Nintendo Announcements

I feel kind of weird that the thing I’m most excited that Nintendo just announced is a 3D version of Picross, the unfortunately named Solid Body Picross. Oh, and the fact that the Wii version of Animal Crossing will somehow interact with the DS version. The new DS WarioWare game Made In Me (what’s up with these Japanese names?), a new Professor Layton game, and a new Mario & Luigi game could be cool too.

Surprisingly the bigger announcement of the new DSi and Punch Out for the Wii aren’t really that exciting to me. I can’t wait to see what Nintendo does with those cameras on the new DS though, hopefully some cool stuff like the old GameBoy Camera. Nintendo’s solution to the Wii’s memory problem is exactly what I thought it would be, running downloaded games off of SD cards. It wont be coming until spring 2009, which is a bummer for people who have already filled up their Wii’s memory.

You can check out the preview montage videos of upcoming games for the Wii and DS for yourself. Notice the absurd flying croissants in the Punch Out segment of the Wii video.

Nintendo also showed off Self-Indulgent Fashion: Girls’ Mode, a fashion game due later this month in Japan, though it was previously announced in local gaming magazine Famitsu.

Games marketed to girls are generally pretty bad, but seriously the name of the game is Self-Indulgent Fashion: Girls’ Mode?

Siliconera » Nintendo’s Art Style Is Bit Generations For WiiWare?

I recently bought import copies of Boundish and Digidrive, two of the Bit Generations games. They are pretty neat. I’m glad to see that Nintendo is finally bringing them over to America, and all faniced up for the Wii on WiiWare.
