Favorite shows this year

Probably two of the best shows I’ve seen all year happened in the last week, Fleet Foxes last night and Stereolab on Saturday. I’ve never really been impressed by the sound in the Georgia Theatre, but from where I was sitting in the balcony Fleet Foxes sounded perfect.

If I had to pick my one favorite show this year though I’d probably pick the Music Tapes performance at popfest. When Julian performs he kind of jumps up and down like an excited kid, and with a full band behind him it was actually pretty rockin’. In addition to just being a really great show musically, at the end the band passed out kazoos to the whole crowd and lead a parade of marching kazoo blowers across town to a field where a game involving blind folds and bells was played. If was fun stuff.
