Recap
A quick recap of my previous blog of the same name that this blog will be replacing:
- for the last two years I attended the GDX Conference hosted by SCAD, and saw some interesting panels and lectures and stuff.
- The old blog was meant to be a “professional” blog about my fledgling game development career, but I still don’t have one of those so I never posted in it. This new blog will be much more loose, and fun (I hope).
The origin of the name of this blog:
I’ve actually been meaning to start a game blog for awhile, and was going to do so with my buddy Grant, but we were struggling to come up with a clever domain name for our blog. Several months ago, before the Wii came out, we were both pretty much obsessed with Wii news and were feeling extreme nerd anticipation for it’s launch, considering it is an innovative new Nintendo system that completely changes the way games are played. One day he called me and told me about a dream he had the night before in which he played the Wii for the first time. I asked him what it was like, and he responded: “It was great! It felt really good, except the buttons. There was something really weird about those dream buttons.” I laughed, and responded “That’s it! That’s the name of our blog, ‘Dream Buttons.’” So there you have it, a blog is born.
I think I liked the name “dream buttons” much more than Grant did. Grant and I (and a few other friends) eventually formed a group blog about all kinds of random nerdiness over at verynerdy.com, and I kept the dream buttons name for myself.
