Gamasutra - Harmonix, MTV, Apple Corps Announce Beatles Music Game I’d much rather have a dedicated Beatles music game than say Aerosmith. Also, the Beatles music has been extremely guarded in terms of digital use, even as far as selling their music on iTunes (which it isn’t yet despite the fact they’d make shitloads of money), so this is big news.

Generative Music on the iPhone
There is some really cool stuff going on with Generative Music on the iPhone App Store. It’s little surprise that Brian Eno would be involved, and he has released an App called Bloom that creates music based on touch screen input. Here’s a link to the first video demo I came across on youtube, and there are no doubt many others. (Unrelated Brian Eno/iPhone note: there is also a free...

Interactive Mirror by Lit Studios. I’ve seen interactive touch surfaces like this before, but the mirror is a different spin on it. I’d like to see what people would come up with if this was combined with facial recognition software.

Upset
kings: Found footage fest sold out for both showings. Yeah, what a bummer. My buddy Grant works at Cine and he emailed me this video (in two parts on youtube) from the festival: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWSRGfttGCU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAvV53R2zIw So there’s that, it’s pretty good.

Here’s the first footage from the Tokyo Game Show of that Level-5 and Studio Ghibli collaboration I posted about. It’s called The Another World (I hope names like this make more sense in Japanese) and of course the animation looks fantastic. (via joystiq)

Nintendo Announcements
I feel kind of weird that the thing I’m most excited that Nintendo just announced is a 3D version of Picross, the unfortunately named Solid Body Picross. Oh, and the fact that the Wii version of Animal Crossing will somehow interact with the DS version. The new DS WarioWare game Made In Me (what’s up with these Japanese names?), a new Professor Layton game, and a new Mario & Luigi...

– Games marketed to girls are generally pretty bad, but seriously the name of the game is Self-Indulgent Fashion: Girls’ Mode? Gamasutra - Nintendo Announces Seven New First-Party DS Titles

Siliconera » Nintendo’s Art Style Is Bit Generations For WiiWare? I recently bought import copies of Boundish and Digidrive, two of the Bit Generations games. They are pretty neat. I’m glad to see that Nintendo is finally bringing them over to America, and all faniced up for the Wii on WiiWare.

Favorite shows this year
Probably two of the best shows I’ve seen all year happened in the last week, Fleet Foxes last night and Stereolab on Saturday. I’ve never really been impressed by the sound in the Georgia Theatre, but from where I was sitting in the balcony Fleet Foxes sounded perfect. If I had to pick my one favorite show this year though I’d probably pick the Music Tapes performance at...
